General Surgeon and Endoscopist
After growing up in the Mackay region, and starting my medical career at the Mackay Base Hospital, I’m excited to make the move into Private General Surgical Practice at the Mater Hospital Mackay.
I graduated from University of Queensland Medical School and completed my internship at the Mackay Base Hospital before leaving to continue my surgical training at the Townsville General Hospital. I further broadened my skills at Cairns Base Hospital, Royal Brisbane Hospital and Royal Children’s Hospital before being awarded my Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and returning to Mackay to accept a post as a Staff General Surgeon at Mackay Base Hospital. My skills progressed while working at Mackay Base Hospital and I fulfilled the requirements for the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) in Endoscopy and Colonoscopy.
During my training I have developed a broad interest in caring for patients with Breast Cancer, Colorectal and Skin Cancer. I also provide services for Endoscopy/Colonoscopy, Hernia repairs, Laparoscopic surgery and Port-a-cath Insertions.
On a professional note, I continue a role with JCU in educating medical students and enjoy passing on my skills to surgical registrars.
When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time on the water or keeping fit.
