Christian
Beardsley is a General Surgeon with sub-speciality expertise in
Endocrine, Vascular and Colo-Rectal Surgery.
Christian’s
alma mater was Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. Through this
network he received a true generalist training having trained in
major regional centres across NSW and the ACT. He has had exposure
to General, ENT, Thoracic and Vascular surgery.
He
was an advanced trainee at the Tweed Colorectal Unit, the RPAH Upper
GI unit and the RPAH vascular unit. He was a senior registrar at the
Chris O”Brien Breast & Endocrine unit and working Sydney’s
largest cancer centre fuelled his passion for surgical oncology.
After
completing his general surgical training, Christian completed further
subspecialty training as a fellow in Orange Regional Health Service.
Here he gained further exposure to Thyroid and Parathyroid surgery,
Vascular surgery and Colorectal surgery.
His
main areas of interest are Endocrine Surgery, Varicose Veins,
Endoscopy and Colorectal surgery. He has an interest in both
Endocrine and Colorectal surgical oncology. His main vascular focus
is on varicose veins, fistula surgery and the assessment and
treatment of peripheral limb vascular disease. He is keen to act as
interface
between dedicated vascular surgeons in other centres and Mackay and
where feasible providing general vascular services in Mackay.
Christian
is an affiliate surgeon of the American Society of Colon and Rectal
Surgeon’s Society (ASCRS), as well a member of the Vascular and
Endovascular Society (VESS). He holds recognition for endoscopy with
Conjoint Committee and has GESA accreditation for gastroscopy and
colonoscopy.
Christian
was drawn to Mackay by the marine lifestyle and warm waters, and is
an avid cyclist.
