Meet The Team

Dr. Christian Connors

It is with pleasure Mater Misericordiae Hospital Mackay introduces:

Dr. Christian Connors

MBBS, FRACS, GESA

General Surgeon and Endoscopist

After growing up in the Mackay region and starting my medical career at the Mackay Base Hospital I’m excited to make the move into Private General Surgical Practice at the Mater Hospital Mackay.

I graduated from University of Queensland Medical School and completed my internship at the Mackay Base Hospital before leaving to continue my surgical training at the Townsville General Hospital. I further broadened my skills at Cairns Base Hospital, Royal Brisbane Hospital and Royal Children’s Hospital before being awarded my Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and returning to Mackay to accept a post as a Staff General Surgeon at Mackay Base Hospital. My skills progressed while working at Mackay Base Hospital and I fulfilled the requirements for the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) in Endoscopy and Colonoscopy.

During my training I have developed a broad interest in caring for patients with Breast Cancer, Colorectal and Skin Cancer. I also provide services for Endoscopy/Colonoscopy, Hernia repairs, Laparoscopic surgery and Port-a-cath Insertions.

On a professional note I continue a role with JCU in educating medical students and enjoy passing on my skills to surgical registrars.

When I’m not at work I enjoy spending time on the water or keeping fit.

I look forward to working with you in the future.

Dr. Christian Connors.

Medical Services at Central QLD Surgical Centre

We have access to operating theatre facilities. Endoscopy and laparoscopy procedures are undertaken here on a daily basis at the Mater Mackay and The Mackay Day Specialist Hospitals so patients who need the benefits of keyhole surgery are well cared for at Central QLD Surgical Care. Compared to open surgery, recovery after a keyhole procedure is, in almost all cases, less complicated and quick.

Patients of all ages‚ from infants to seniors, will find themselves in the hands of skilled surgeons at our Mackay medical centre. The services we offer are backed by impeccable qualifications and well-regarded medical affiliations.

Most of the time, patients will come to us with referrals from other medical practitioners, however, there are also occasions when we will refer patients to specialists from our network of medical professionals.

At all times, our singular focus is on the best health outcome for you.

You can always trust the team at Central QLD Surgical Care for compassionate, attentive and thorough professional care. From our initial discussions with you—answering all your questions directly and honestly to help you understand every aspect of the process—to providing you with post-operative advice for successful recovery, we want your experience to be as free of stress as possible.
